 Dave
Alner
Dave started bowling a few seasons ago and has
been involved in the league and representative games in recent seasons. He
was a club competition winner in 2004 winning the Longley Cup, and again
in 2008 when he enjoyed success in the Lewis Trophy. Dave, 'the webmaster' is responsible for the
construction and upkeep of the Southbourne Bowls Club website.

 Frank
Armstrong
With success at both county and club level,
Frank has earned the respect of bowlers both here at Southbourne and
at other clubs. His achievements include reaching the national finals with
the Sussex Middleton Cup team, three County Double Fours wins, a number of
county semi-final appearances and a record thirty six club competition wins,
being Men's Singles Champion on four occasions.

 Robin Armstrong
Robin has reached the Quarter Final stages of the
County competitions on ten occasions going on to win the Champion of Champions in 2004 and was
runner-up in
the Singles in 2005. He has also represented Sussex in
the Middleton Cup. Club competition wins now total twenty, being Club
Champion in 2003. He has been captain of the men's competitive matches
since 2004.

 Brian Aston
Brian joined Southbourne Bowls Club in 2005 and
is a popular and valued member of the club. He takes an active part in all
club fixtures and has progressed to entry into the County competitions.
Brian achieved his first club competition success in 2007 by winning the
Longley Cup after producing one of the best comebacks ever seen on finals
day. 2008 also brought another finals day appearance, this time finishing
up as Men's Pairs runner-up.

 Malcolm
Ayres
Malcolm is another of our newer members
who is still a member at Waterlooville B.C., so his time with us will
be split with his other club. He is enjoying his time spent with us and we
are hopeful he will be able to get involved at Southbourne more over
future years. Trying to juggle work commitments and find time for his
bowling can sometime prove difficult but he is showing great interest
since joining Southbourne.

 Fred
Brimecombe
Joining Southbourne a few seasons ago 'Freddie'
enjoys nothing more than a Sunday morning roll up with a couple of mates.
Hopefully Fred and Co. will be available for more games at Southbourne
during the coming seasons. All his practice must be paying of as Fred was runner-up in
the Longley Cup in 2007.

 Antony Bull
'Ant' is our most accomplished player of recent
years. Five England U25 trials and national glory with the Sussex U25
Double Rink in 2001 show he has had plenty of experience at the highest
level. Ant has reached six county finals, winning four of them, and represented
Sussex in the Middleton Cup. Club competition wins now total twenty eight,
including being the clubs Singles champion seven times.

 Paul Butler
The 1989 National Triples title and runner-up
in the British Isle Triples the following year, are Paul's and
Southbourne's greatest achievements. Paul has won seven of his nine county
final appearances including the Singles in 1986. After ten years away from
the outdoor game, 2008 saw Paul return to Southbourne B.C. where he has
won eighteen club competitions including a record eight Club Singles titles.

 Bill Coates
Bill is a long time servant to Southbourne
Bowls club and has held the post of Club Captain for several seasons in
the past. He is a great supporter of all our fixtures including both the
Reflex and Gazette leagues. He enjoyed club success in the Men's Pairs in
2004 and the Longley Cup in 2006. Our finals day Chinese supper wouldn't be quite the same without
Bill wearing his Sunderland shirt!

 Dave Fewell
'Fewelly' is another Southbourne player who
started his involvement with the club as an Associate member in 2006. In
his first full season Dave tasted victory in the club Consolation Singles
and was part of the winning Open Day Fours team in 2007 and 2008. The 2008
season also saw Dave finish as runner-up in the Two Wood Singles. His performances
have established him as a Gazette league regular.

 Richard Galloway
One of the most consistent players for a while now.
Richard has been a regular selection in both club representative and
Gazette league teams and reached the quarter-finals in the County Unbadged
Singles in 2007. Club competitions have seen him victorious in the Longley
Cup in 2005 and the Lewis Trophy in 2003 and 2006. His performances have
surely put him in line for richly deserved County recognition before too long.

 John Game
John is our club Chairman, a role difficult to
fill in any organisation, but one in which John performs with ease,
diplomacy and fairness. He is also an excellent speaker when the need
arises. John supports all endeavors within Southbourne Bowls Club and
plays in many fixtures and club competitions. John was awarded his
Vice-Presidents badge in 2007 and is also our Francis Drake delegate.

 Pete Garrard
Pete supports all the clubs fixtures and
regularly plays in the Reflex and Gazette league teams. He has previously
held the post of club Vice Captain. Pete's first club competition success
was the Consolation Singles in 1999. He was club Singles runner-up in
2003 and won the Lewis Trophy in 2004. He also won the Men's Pairs in 2001 and 2005,
and the Veterans Singles in 2001 and 2007.

 Tony Hamm
Over the years Tony has been with us he has
enjoyed success in the club Consolation singles in 2000 and the Lewis
Trophy in 2002. Tony is a keen supporter of our Friendly and Reflex League
matches and has also played in club representative matches and the Gazette
League. Tony is a quiet and well liked member of Southbourne B.C., who on his
day, can be a very consistent front end bowler.

 Frank Heil
Since joining Southbourne B.C. in 2007 from our
neighbours at Fishbourne B.C.,
Frank has settled in very well and enjoyed playing for his new club.
Frank has shown
commitment since his arrival and has proved a valuable
member participating in as many club fixtures and competitions as
possible. We hope his association with us here at Southbourne will
continue for many more seasons.

 Dave House
Dave is long standing member of our club who has
recently stood down from the committee on which he successfully served for a number of years. Dave was awarded his
full County Badge just a few seasons ago and has regularly represented the
club for many seasons. Club competitions won include Consolation
Singles 1996, 2004 and 2005 and the Two Wood Singles in 2007.

 Jim
Jennings
Jim joined Southbourne Bowls Club for
the 2008 season and enjoyed his involvement with our friendly fixtures. We hope Jim can
continue to take an active part in all our bowling and social functions by
becoming a regular member over future years. I'm sure Jim
will make many new friends here at Southbourne and we hope his association
with the game of bowls is a long and happy one.

 Ted Johnson
Teddy is a very keen and enthusiastic member of Southbourne Bowls
Club. He plays an active part in all club fixtures, regularly featuring in
the Gazette and Reflex leagues. Generally a quiet person, however you
would be mistaken if you thought Ted wasn't competitive. He is determined
to do the very best he can for the club.

 John Kingswell
'Ming' was part of our clubs 1987 Double Fours winning team. He also
won the clubs Two Wood Singles title in 1988 and was part of the Open
Fours winning team in 2000. After a number of years away
from Southbourne Bowls Club, John returned in 2004 and has featured in the
Gazette league as well as club representative games. His experience will
be a great help to our new bowlers.

 John Knowles
After watching our Gazette league team during 2006 John decided it
was time to take up the game himself. Although finding time to play has
proved difficult at times, John takes an interest in all the clubs endeavors.
The highlight of John's 2007 season was being part of the Open Day Fours
winning team an achievement he repeated in 2008. P.S. Don't try to keep up with him 'pint for pint'...... you
wont.

 John A. Lillywhite
John has been a member of Southbourne Bowls Club for over forty
years and is still an excellent supporter of all the clubs endeavors. His
first competition success came in 1972 winning the Two Wood Singles and he
has followed on with wins in the Pairs 1993 and 2005, the Open Fours in
1998 and the Consolation Singles in 2001. John is always ready to
share a joke or two with you at the bar!

 John C. Lillywhite
Joining Southbourne B.C. from nearby Emsworth, John has enjoyed his
bowling since his arrival. He has an instantly likeable character and has
fitted in very easily at our club. He has played in Friendly, Reflex and
Gazette league games and will be featuring in the clubs competitions
during the coming season.

 Ken Lockyer
Ken has been a very keen member of Southbourne Bowls Club for a
number of years. He is naturally competitive and works very hard keeping
up and improving his game. He plays regularly in both the Reflex and
Gazette leagues. Ken enjoyed his first club competition win in 2008 with
success in the Pairs League. If you can't see Ken out on the Green playing or rolling
up, he is likely to be enjoying his pint at the bar!

 Colin Lowe
Colin is an active member of Waterlooville B.C. so he is limited to
how much he can participate at Southbourne. He does however try to support
our fixtures when he can. You will nearly always find Colin rolling up on
a Sunday morning - whatever the weather. Colin has had success in our
Veterans Singles, when he came out winner in 2005 and runner-up in the
same competition in 2008.

 Doug Moseley
Doug is enjoying his second spell with the club after a few years
playing with local rivals Chichester B.C. He is a real Gentleman and a terrific
supporter of all aspects of Southbourne Bowls Club. Doug has had some club
competition success, winning the Consolation Singles in 1988 the Lewis Trophy in 1995 and the
Men's Pairs
in 1987, 1989 and 1993. Doug has also won the Open Fours day twice.

 Tony Odell
Tony is a qualified International Umpire who officiated at the
Commonwealth Games in Manchester. As a player he reached the county
Champion of Champions semi-finals in both 1996 and 2003. Tony is one of
our most consistent players and this reflects in his eleven club competition
wins which include being club Champion on three occasions, 1992, 1995 and
2002.

 Colin Petchey
'Petch' joined the Associate member scheme in 2005, going on to full
membership the following year. Colin has been very keen to establish
himself at the club and is starting to feature in the Gazette league team.
2007 brought a very creditable runner-up in the Club Singles to add to
victory in our very own Open Day Fours competition in both 2007 and 2008. Colin's
game continues to improve with experience.

 Terry Roden
Terry started bowling a few years ago and takes an active role in
most of what Southbourne B.C. provides. He is another of our Winter
bowling enthusiasts and has taken on the position of Treasurer for the
past couple of seasons. So if any of you see Terry buying a new car, then
please report this to our club Chairman ASAP! Terry reached his first club
final in 2008 finishing as runner-up in the Longley Cup.

 Andy Smith
Andy is another of our newer bowlers and has
enjoyed his bowling since joining in 2007. He is naturally competitive and
has quickly established himself at Southbourne B.C. Andy has played
in a wide range of the clubs fixtures and 2008 brought three club
competition finals, with wins in the Longley Cup and the Men's Pairs along
with a Lewis Trophy runner-up.

 Charlie Soper
Charlie is Southbourne Bowls Club's longest
serving member, having supported the club for over fifty years. He was
part of our County Double Fours winning teams in both 1976 and 1984. He is
still an active and valuable player who regularly features in a wide
selection of club fixtures. Although he doesn't play in club competitions
anymore, he has been a previous winner of the Men's Pairs, the
Consolation Singles and the Open Fours.

 Mark Soper
Joining the Bowls section in 2006 after a year as an Associate
member, Mark went on to reach his first club final and was victorious in
the Consolation Singles. Encouraging performances in both club
competitions and in the Gazette league team, give Mark the opportunity to
make a name for himself at the club over future seasons.

 John Staker
John has been a member of Southbourne Bowls Club for over 30 years.
He is currently serving as Vice Captain, having previously occupied the
position of Captain for four seasons. John really is an example to us all
when it comes to supporting your club. He is always amongst the
volunteers when things need doing and can turn his hand to most tasks. A
club competition winner in the Lewis Trophy in 2001 and the Open Fours in
1989.

 Dave
Walter
Dave is following his
fathers footsteps into the game of bowls; his father Chris plays for
Storrington B.C. Dave is continuing to progress and gain valuable
experience the more he plays, and will go on to establish himself over
future seasons. He will be trying to break into the clubs league and
representative teams during the coming season.

 Geoff Whitaker
Geoff is a very keen and committed member of this club. His name is
regularly seen on the team lists whether it's a Friendly game or a League
fixture. Our club is very fortunate to have Geoff as our P.R.O. If you
have any relevant information about Southbourne Bowls Club for the
newspapers, please get in touch with Geoff. He will be only too pleased to
help.

 Alan Williams
Alan is one of our newer members and now enjoys bowling nearly as
much as a round of golf or supporting Watford F.C. During recent seasons he
has become more involved with the clubs fixtures and has been playing both Friendly
and League games. Alan continues to improve as he gains experience and will be competing in the
clubs competitions during the coming season.

 Colin Young
Colin is a very enthusiastic member of Southbourne Bowls Club
for a number of years. The competitive nature of the Gazette league has
seen Colin's game improve immensely. 2008 saw Colin enter the county
competitions for the first time. Club competition success with a win in
the Men's Pairs in 2006. Colin was awarded his Vice Presidents badge in
2007.

 Dave Young
Dave is our club Secretary and without doubt has the hardest job of
any club officer. Many hours are spent ensuring that Southbourne Bowls
Club runs as smoothly as possible. Dave started playing bowls a few years
ago and enjoys a wide range of bowling. He is a keen Winter bowler who
braves all weathers during the close season. Dave will also be taking part
in our club competitions during the coming season.
