 Dave Alner
Dave is the clubs Competition Secretary and Webmaster. He was awarded his Sussex Colts Badge by reaching the
County Fours Quarter final in 2009. A club competition winner in 2004 winning the Longley Cup was followed with
victories in the Lewis Trophy in 2008 and the Men's Pairs in 2009. Dave has been an important member of the clubs
league and representative teams in recent seasons.

 Frank
Antony
We welcome Frank to Southbourne Bowls
Club as an associate member for the
Anniversary season. He had started to show
interest in joining us during the 2009
season and we are delighted he has come
onboard this year. We hope to see Frank
enjoy a full year with us, taking part in
many of our fixtures, competitions and
social activities. Frank will be playing in
the club Pairs League for 2010.

 Jack
Antony
Jack has decided to join us this season
by partnering his father Frank in the clubs
Pairs League. As a club we have been
encouraged by the interest shown in the
Pairs League by numerous potential junior
bowlers. Hopefully Jack will enjoy his
introduction to the game of bowls and with
the right encouragement continue his
involvement in future seasons.

 Frank Armstrong
Frank has had success at both county and club level. His achievements include reaching the national finals with
the Sussex Middleton Cup team, three County Double Fours wins, and reaching the latter stages of the County competitions
on numerous occasions. He holds a record thirty seven club competition wins being Men's Singles Champion on four occasions.

 Robin Armstrong
Robin has reached the Quarter Final stages of the County competitions on eleven occasions going on to win the
Champion of Champions in 2004 and was runner-up in the County Singles in 2005. He has also represented Sussex in
the Middleton Cup. Club competition wins now total twenty two, being Club Champion in 2003.
He has held office as Competition Secretary, Captain and is currently Match Secretary.

 Brian Aston
Brian joined Southbourne Bowls Club in 2005. He takes an active part in all club fixtures and has progressed to
entry into the County competitions. Brian achieved his first club competition success in 2007 by winning the
Longley Cup after producing one of the best comebacks ever seen on finals day. 2008 and 2009 saw Brian finish as
runner-up in the Men's Pairs and the Lewis Trophy respectively.

 Fred Brimecome
Joining Southbourne a few seasons ago 'Freddie' enjoys nothing more than a Sunday morning roll up with a couple
of mates. Hopefully Fred and Co. will be available for more games at Southbourne during the coming seasons.
All his practice must be paying of as Fred finished as runner-up in the Longley Cup in 2007, but then went on to win
the same competition in the 2009 season.

 Antony Bull
'Ant' is our most accomplished player of recent years. Five England U25 trials and national glory with the Sussex U25
Double Rink in 2001 show he has had plenty of experience at the highest level. He has reached six county finals, winning
four of them, and represented Sussex in the Middleton Cup. Club competition wins now total twenty nine, including being
the clubs Singles champion eight times. 2010 saw Ant take office as the clubs Vice Captain.

 Rodney Bull
2009 saw a welcome return to Rod for his third spell at Southbourne. In his first stay Rod was Club Singles
Champion in 1972 and followed this with a Two Wood Singles win in
1973. Rod returned in the 90's and enjoyed success
in the club's Open Fours in 1993, the Lewis Trophy in 1994 and the Consolation Singles in both 1995 and 1998. Rodney
is currently serving the club as Treasurer.

 Paul Butler
The 1989 National Triples title and runner-up in the British Isle Triples the following year, are Paul's and
Southbourne's greatest achievements. Paul has won seven of his nine county final appearances including the Singles in 1986.
After ten years away from the outdoor game, 2008 saw Paul return to Southbourne B.C. where he has won eighteen club competitions
including a record equaling eight Club Singles titles.

 Bill Coates
Bill is a long time servant to Southbourne Bowls club and is currently serving as our club Chairman. He is a great
supporter of all our fixtures and social activities. He enjoyed club success in the Men's Pairs in 2004 and the
Longley Cup in 2006. Our finals day Chinese supper has traditionally been a 'football shirt' event and Bill takes great pleasure
in appearing every year in the latest Sunderland shirt.

 John Davis
Southbourne Bowling Club welcomed another new player for the 2009 season. John joined us from Emsworth B.C. and we
hope his stay with us here is a long and enjoyable one. With a wide range of fixtures and competitions available to take
part in, John had no problem in finding plenty of opportunities to play and we wish him all the best for his second season
with us.

 Callum Fewell
After his debut year as a Pairs League
partner of his father Dave, Callum is taking
part again in the 2010 seasons competition with
new partner Margaret Odell who will be able to
pass on her wealth of knowledge and experience.
Hopefully 2010 will see Callum take part in
more of the clubs other competitions and
fixtures. We look forward to watching his
progress throughout the year.

 Dave Fewell
Dave has established himself as a league regular in recent seasons and has enjoyed club competition successes
starting with the Consolation Singles in 2006. Open Fours Day victories followed in 2007 and 2008.
Being runner-up in the club
Two Wood singles also in 2008, was surpassed by a Lewis Trophy win in 2009. Dave continues to improve as he gains experience
and is a valuable asset to the club.

 Richard Galloway
One of the most consistent players for a while now. Richard has been a regular selection in both club representative and
Gazette league teams and he reached the
quarter-final stages of the County Unbadged Singles in 2007.
Club competitions have seen him
victorious in the Longley Cup in 2005 and the Lewis Trophy in 2003 and 2006.

 John Game
John continues to be a fantastic supporter of Southbourne Bowls. He served the club as Chairman for a number of years
and is still the club delegate for the Francis Drake Charity which the club fully endorses. John supports all the club
fixtures and activities and is a very popular member. We wish John all the best for the coming year, and hope to see
him on the green throughout our 90th Anniversary season.

 Pete Garrard
Pete is a long standing member of the club and fully supports all the clubs fixtures and competitions. He has previously
held the post of club Vice Captain. Pete's first club competition success was the Consolation Singles in 1999.
He was club Singles runner-up in 2003 and won the Lewis Trophy in 2004. He also won the Men's Pairs in 2001 and 2005
and the Veterans Singles in 2001 and 2007.

 Alan Grief
Alan returned to Southbourne after a number of years playing his bowls at Worthing B.C. Always competitive
and vocal on the green 'Griff' adds another strong and experienced player to our ranks. Alan won the Lewis Trophy in 1990
and the Club Pairs in 1994 and 2009. He plays in many of
the clubs fixtures over the season and has proved to be a valuable
asset since his return to Southbourne.

 Frank Heil
Since joining Southbourne B.C. in 2007 from our neighbours at Fishbourne
B.C., Frank has settled in very well and
enjoyed playing for his new club. Frank has shown commitment since his arrival and has proved a valuable member participating
in as many club fixtures and competitions as possible. We hope his association with us here at Southbourne will
continue for many more seasons.

 Bob
Hillier
Bob joins Southbourne for this season after
playing with our 'Polar Bears' during the
Winter months. Bob has fully committed himself
to the game of bowls, having signed up for the
clubs Pairs League as well as club and county
competitions. We wish Bob every success during
the 2010 season and hope he enjoys his first
year at Southbourne B.C.

 Pete Jasinski
Pete joins us for 2010 as an Associate member
and has entered the Pairs League for our
Anniversary Year. In the 2009 season Pete
enjoyed taking part in our very own Open Day
Fours competition and has decided to get a bit
more involved during 2010. We all wish him well
for the coming season and hope that his
introduction to the game of bowls in 2009 leads
to a long term interest for future
seasons.

 Jim Jennings
Jim joined Southbourne Bowls Club for the 2008 season and has progressed to playing in the Reflex and BML
league teams. We hope Jim can continue to take an active part in all our bowling and social functions over future years.
I'm sure Jim has made many new friends here at Southbourne and we hope his association with the game of bowls is a long
and happy one.

 Ted Johnson
Teddy is a very keen and enthusiastic member of Southbourne Bowls Club. He plays an active part in
the clubs fixtures, regularly featuring in the Reflex and BML leagues. Generally a quiet person, however you would be
mistaken if you thought Ted wasn't competitive. He is determined to do the very best he can for the club.

 John Kingswell
'Ming' was part of our clubs 1987 Double Fours winning team. He also won the clubs Two Wood Singles title in 1988 and was
part of the Open Fours winning team in 2000. After a number of years away from Southbourne Bowls Club, John returned in 2004
and has featured in the Gazette league as well as club representative games. His experience is a great help
to our newer bowlers.

 John Knowles
After watching our Gazette league team during 2006 John decided it was time to take up the game himself.
Although finding time to play has proved difficult at times, John takes an interest in all the clubs endeavors.
The highlight of John's 2007 season was being part of the Open Day Fours winning team an achievement he repeated in 2008.
P.S. Don't try to keep up with him 'pint for pint'...... you wont.

 John A. Lillywhite
John has been a member of Southbourne Bowls Club for over forty years and is still an excellent supporter of all
the clubs endeavors. His first competition success came in 1972 winning the Two Wood Singles and he has followed on with
wins in the Pairs in 1993 and 2005, the Open Fours in 1998 and the Consolation Singles in 2001. John is always ready to
share a joke or two with you at the bar!

 John C. Lillywhite
Joining Southbourne B.C. from nearby Emsworth, John has enjoyed his bowling since his arrival. He has an instantly
likeable character and has fitted in very easily at our club. He has played in Friendly, Reflex and BML league games and
will be featuring in the clubs competitions during the coming season. He particularly enjoys the clubs pairs league
partnering his wife Audrey.

 Ken Lockyer
Ken has been a very keen member of Southbourne Bowls Club for a number of years. He is naturally competitive and works
very hard keeping up and improving his game. He plays regularly in both the Reflex and Gazette leagues. Ken enjoyed his
first club competition win in 2008 with success in the Pairs League. If you can't see Ken out on the Green playing or rolling
up, he is likely to be enjoying his pint at the bar!

 Colin Lowe
Colin is an active member of Waterlooville B.C. so he is limited to how much he can participate at Southbourne.
He does however try to support our fixtures when he can. You will nearly always find Colin rolling up on a Sunday
morning - whatever the weather. Colin has had success in our Veterans Singles, when he came out winner in 2005 and
runner-up in the same competition in 2008 and 2009.

 Doug Moseley
Doug is enjoying his second spell with the club after a few years playing with local rivals Chichester B.C.
He is a real Gentleman and a terrific supporter of all aspects of Southbourne Bowls Club. Doug has had some club
competition success, winning the Consolation Singles in 1988 the Lewis Trophy in 1995 and the Men's Pairs
in 1987, 1989 and 1993. Doug has also won the Open Fours day twice.

 Colin Petchey
'Petch' joined Southbourne Bowls Club in 2006 after a year as an Associate member. Colin is now established at the
club and is featuring in the clubs league teams. 2007 brought a very creditable runner-up in the Club Singles to add to
victory in our very own Open Day Fours competition in both 2007 and 2008. 2010 could be the year when Colin really makes
an impact and we wish him every success for the Anniversary season.

 Joshua
Petchey
Joshua joins his Dad Colin in the Pairs
League this year and we wish him an enjoyable
season. This competition has continued to reach
out to a number of people who now are taking
part in this wonderful game. We hope Josh
becomes another younger person who takes this
initial interest in the game further and joins
as a full member in future years. Welcome and
enjoy it!

 Terry Roden
Terry started bowling a few years ago and takes an active role in most of what Southbourne B.C. provides. He is
another of our Winter bowling enthusiasts and works very hard towards the success of the 'Polar Bears' during the
Winter. Terry reached his first club final in 2008 finishing as runner-up in the Longley Cup. Terry has also served the
club as Treasurer in past years.

 John Scorey
John is currently the clubs County Delegate. He was part of three of our County Double Fours winning teams in 1976,1979
and 1984 when he also won the County Pairs. John has represented Sussex in the Middleton Cup and also served as a County
Selector. At club level he has been Club Singles champion twice in 1979 and again in 1983. His other wins are the
Two Wood Singles in 1979 and a Pairs victory in 1985.

 Alan
Shelley
After attending the clubs A.G.M. with the
intention of joining as an associate, Alan left
the meeting as a full member, joined the Pairs
League and also ordered the new club shirt!
Obviously the Southbourne bug has bitten him and
we wish him a fantastic debut season. He has
already been actively involved with preparations
for the new season, helping out with the work
parties. Have a great year!

 Damien
Simpson
Damien first expressed an interest in joining
the Bowls Club during the 2009 season and we are
pleased to welcome him as a full member for the
Anniversary year. Damien has had some previous
bowling experience playing the game as a
teenager for a few years. We are sure his return
to the sport is going to prove a success for
him, and in turn a benefit for our club.

 Andy Smith
Andy has enjoyed his bowling since joining us in 2007. He is naturally competitive and has quickly established himself
at Southbourne B.C. Andy has played in a wide range of the clubs fixtures and 2008 brought three club competition finals,
with wins in the Longley Cup and the Men's Pairs along with a Lewis Trophy runner-up. 2009 saw Andy reach the County Fours
Quarter Final and also win the Club Pairs League.

 Charlie Soper
Charlie is Southbourne Bowls Club's longest serving member, having supported the club for over fifty years. He was
part of our County Double Fours winning teams in both 1976 and 1984. He is still an active and valuable player who
regularly features in a wide selection of club fixtures. Although he doesn't play in club competitions anymore, he has
been a previous winner of the Men's Pairs, the Consolation Singles and the Open Fours.

 Mark Soper
Joining the Bowls section in 2006 after a year as an Associate member, Mark went on to reach his first club final
that year and was victorious in the Consolation Singles. Strong performances last year in the Gazette and Reflex league
teams have established Mark as a valuable member of the club. This level of performance will only continue to raise
his profile at Southbourne B.C.

 Steve Soper
Steve started his bowling career joining in
with the Tuesday evening Short Mat sessions and
decided to partner his father Mark in the 2009
Pairs League. The 2010 season has given him the
opportunity to enter the Pairs League again this
time with John Kingswell. Steve is keen to take
part in many more fixtures and competitions
during the coming Anniversary year.

 John Staker
John has been a member of Southbourne Bowls Club for over 30 years. He has previously served as Vice Captain and Captain.
John really is an example to us all when it comes to supporting your club. He is always amongst the first to volunteer when
things need doing and can turn his hand to most tasks. A club competition winner in the Lewis Trophy in 2001 and the
Open Fours in 1989. John is also a keen Vice President supporting their fixtures.

 Dave Walter
Dave has enjoyed an exciting 2009 season reaching his first club finals. Although these were both runners-up, his progress
in reaching the final of the Consolation Singles and the Longley Cup in the same year shows how much he has improved. The
experience gained from 2009 will only spur Dave on to achieve greater success in future seasons.

 Liam Walter
Liam started his bowls career in 2008 playing
some friendly games and spending many a long
evening rolling up with his father Dave. During
2009 Liam played in the Pairs League and he was
also selected to represent the club in the
Reflex league for the first time. Entry into the
Club competitions was another first for Liam and
his performances showed his terrific
potential to become a very good bowler in the
future.

 Alan Williams
Alan is one of our newer members and now enjoys bowling nearly as much as a round of golf or supporting Watford F.C.
During recent seasons he has become more involved with the clubs fixtures and has been playing both Friendly and League games.
Alan has continued to improve as he has gained experience and will be competing in the clubs competitions during the coming
season.

 Colin Young
Colin is a our Club Captain for the 90th Anniversary season he is an enthusiastic member of Southbourne Bowls Club
and is always working hard for the club. The competitive nature of the Gazette league has seen Colin's game improve
immensely. He has enjoyed Club competition success winning the Men's Pairs in 2006. Colin was awarded his
Vice Presidents badge in 2007.

 Dave Young
Dave is our club Secretary and without doubt has the hardest job of any club officer. Many hours are spent ensuring
that Southbourne Bowls Club runs as smoothly as possible. Dave started playing bowls a few years ago and enjoys a wide
range of bowling. He is a keen Winter bowler who braves all weathers during the close season. Dave will also be taking
part in our club competitions during the coming season.
