Short Mat League.
Southbourne lead South West Division 2 after taking all
6 points in a convincing home victory over Norfolk today.
Southbourne now have a 3 point lead plus a game in hand over second
place

Southbourne Bowls Club enjoyed their annual dinner and trophy presentations at Southbourne Club
last night in the company of guests of honour Peter and Muriel
Winter.
An excellent meal was followed by speeches and the presentation of
trophies by Peter and Muriel. The evening was concluded by dancing
to the sounds of club favourite Paul Simpson.
Southbourne would like to thank
all involved for making the event a success, especially, guests of
honour Peter and Muriel, the catering team and Paul Simpson.

It's encouraging to report improved performances in this seasons
ESMBA Qualifiers with games being much closer than last year. In the
Triples, Rodney Bull, Malcolm Keene and Alan Shelley bowled well in
very close games. The eventual winners were The Martlets with our
very own Paul Butler as a guest player, Well done to them and Good
luck in the finals. The Qualifiers continue with the Singles and
Fours on the 10th and 17th December with Southbourne having entries
in both competitions. |

the new season tomorrow represented by A. Bull in the Champion of
Champions and R. Bull, M. Keane & A. Shelley in the over 60's
Triples.

Southbourne's Short Mat season starts today with a roll up session
from 2 till 6pm. The full season's timetable can be viewed on the
Fixtures & Events page.
All members of Southbourne Social club are entitled to attend the
informal roll up sessions during the course of the season, however,
Bowls club membership will be necessary to compete in any of the
club or county competitions. Further, any Bowls club members wishing
to compete in the county league or cup competitions will need to
attain County registration (arranged via the Short Mat secretary). |

Southbourne's Club competitions were concluded on Sunday 4th
September where some excellent bowling, befitting Finals Day, was
witnessed by all those who were able to come along and
give support.
Congratulations to all finalists, both winners and runners-up.
The Club once again thank both the officials on the green and
the volunteer caterers off the green, who all assisted in making
the day a success.

The Order Of Play for this years Finals Day has now been completed
and has been displayed in the clubhouse foyer.

East Preston to take 8 league points. With three games left to play,
Southbourne move up into third place in Div 1 behind leaders

Short Mat Bowling at
Southbourne.
After last seasons successful entry into Short Mat bowling,
Southbourne Bowls Club are set to continue forward into the 2011/12
season with affiliation to the WSCSMBA and also, inclusion into the
County League structure.
A full program of Club, League, County & National events has been
arranged / compiled by Short Mat Secretary, R Armstrong, and can be
viewed on the Fixtures & Events page.
A printable version (PDF file) is also available on the
Notice Board page.
All Southbourne Bowls Club members are welcome to participate in any
or all of the events published. It should be noted that County
registration will be necessary to compete in League, County or
National events.
County Registration will cost just £5.50. This must be submitted to
the Short Mat Secretary by the 20th August 2011.
Further information will be made available in due course.

Please amend the fixture cards within your handbooks
to reflect the following changes. 1. The home Reflex
League game against Denmead scheduled for the 5th September has been
moved to Wed 17th August starting at 6pm. 2. The away
Littlehampton League game at Storrington on Sun 3rd July has a start
time of 2pm not midday. 3. The home game against
Worthing on Sun 31st July should be marked as a Littlehampton League
game. |

Southbourne start the new season with an impressive home win against
Bedhampton in the Reflex League. Victory on all five rinks with an
overall score of 103 shots to 59 earns Southbourne a maximum 14
league points. Top rink honours to J. Simmonds, F. Heil and K. Alner. |

Invitation Open Fours Tournament on Sunday 12th June. Full details

The website is currently being updated for the 2011-12 season,
however previous news items, fixtures, results etc can still be accessed through the Archive page.
In preparation for the new season, a work party has been arranged
for Saturday 2nd April to meet at the ground at 10 am. Many hands
make light work!
The draw for the Friday pairs league has been made and is posted
in the club house foyer and also on-line
here. Individual copies of
the draw & fixture list will be available to take away. Please note
that the opening fixture for most teams will be on the 6th May.
All Southbourne bowls club members are welcome to contribute news
items or match reports for inclusion on this page.
