Southbourne Bowls Pairs League Rules Of Play
1. Entry to this competition is open to all Southbourne Bowls Club members. All
teams are permissible except any previous winning pairs of the Pairs League title.
2. Substitutes are allowed (not during the course of a match) but are restricted
to playing for just one team during the season.
3. Each team will play eight matches (maximum), which will be randomly drawn from the competition entrants.
No team will play the same team twice.
Fixture cards will be displayed on the club competition notice board when drawn.
4. Each match should be played on the date published in the fixture card. However, it is permissible to
play a fixture at any time earlier than the published date or up to forty-eight hours after the published
date if necessary and agreed upon by both teams.
Failure to play a match within the above period will result in nil points being awarded to both teams.
An extension to the above period may be granted by the Competition Secretary for unforeseen circumstances
only, provided the request is made within the above period.
If a match cannot be played within the above period then the Competition Secretary can rule in favour of
a team, provided a request is made within the above period. A successful ruling will result in eight points
being awarded to the favoured team and one point to the un-favoured team.
5. Rinks will be drawn for each match before play commences.
6. Matches will be played over sixteen ends with no trial ends. Only one shot will be awarded on the first end.
A no-end will not be replayed and will be scored as two shots against the team causing that no-end.
7. A total of ten points is available for each match and will be awarded to the teams based on shot difference, as follows:
